Michael Johnson

After spending 8 years between a host of various jobs, in a host of various countries, Michael Johnson finally landed on his feet at the age of 28 and formed his own design firm JohnsonBanks in London, England. The first 8 years were a little rocky, during his time as an employee of Wolff Olins he was labeled as a "suit that could draw", not a designer, but Johnson Banks has grown into a design firm with international clientele. While the work at Johnson Banks may be on a large scale, the staff is made up of only 6 to 7 full-time employees.

The small size of the staff allows Johnson Banks to be flexible and accept the type of projects that they know they will excel at. This flexibility, combined with the talents of the staff, creates an environment in which very successful work is created. This work in turn leads to bigger clients and larger-scale projects. Very involved in the design community in London, Johnson has also served as the youngest president of the D&AD(Design and Art Direction) Group.
